My name is Corey Stone , and I am an experienced criminal defense attorney. I graduated from the University of Iowa College of Law with distinction when it was among the 20 best law schools in the country. I first practiced in the Colorado Public Defender system, an organization nationally respected for the quality of its training. I have represented clients in a wide range of cases, including domestic violence, OUI, serious drug felonies, violent felonies, sex offenses, and even bank robbery. In 2019, I was selected as my office's “County Court Attorney of the Year."
I am an experienced trial and motions practice attorney, but I also recognize that each client’s circumstances are different, and their interests are sometimes best served by the presentation of compelling mitigation.
I developed my persuasive abilities as an intercollegiate debater nationally ranked in the top 25. I earned a Master’s Degree in Communication Studies, and I apply that knowledge to the art of persuasive communication every day. At the University of Iowa College of Law, I focused on criminal law. I completed three criminal defense internships, two of which were focused on appeals.
Since moving to Maine, I practiced eviction defense at Pine Tree Legal before returning to my passion, criminal law. I have experience in the full gamut of criminal case types in Maine.
My wife and I live in Southern Maine. In our free time, we enjoy experiencing Maine , traveling, and tending to the ceaseless adventures of our 100+ year old home.
